That temp is fine, it's about what my X2 manages with a Zalman cooler. If you're getitng BSODs and recognised memory errors, it sounds a likely possibility, and definitely does happen, I've seen it, not on my own PC, but one that one of my friends built for someone else. The RAM was bad and got replaced.

I have now found that it is because I brought High Density RAM and not Low Density RAM. Never hered of such a thing?? Could someone please confirm this for me!

Thanks, Dave.

Rubbish. You just shouldn't mix the two. If it's all high density, it should work unless the RAM is faulty.

I will post the reply I had from the eBay seller tomorrow. They claim it is only compatable with certain mobos but as mine was new I thought it would have been OK. Both Sticks are High Density.

Need Help!!!

Trying to put together a new PC, but it won't start up.
I hooked everything up, double and triple checked all the connections. When I hit the power button nothing happens!!!

I have a Hiper PS.
ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe
ATI All-In Wonder X1900
AM2 4200 X2

When I connect the power cord to the case the mobo lights up a green light in the botton right on the board (without hitting any buttons). So at this point I know that the mobo i detecting some sort of power.
But when I try to turn on the power on the case nothing happens.

Any suggests on what to do????

ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe, AMD 4200 X2, ATI All-In Wonder X1900, Corsair 2GB PC6400, Seagate 80 gig SATA, Maxtor 200 gig SATA, WD 200 gig PATA.

You may want to double check your power button works, first and foremost!

I checked my power button, and even tried another from a second case. I cleared CMOS and still nothing. I can't get anything to turn on.

I noticed that the ASUS manual said 600W power supply, but the Hiper is only 580W. Could this be my problem?

Nah. Not only is that irrelevant at POST, but also the Hiper can output 630W. Are all the connectors plugged in? 24 pin and the Asus' extra molex connector plug and power?

Underneath my CPU cooler, there's a plug that's going into the board at the back. That looks like a molex to me, and my system builder plugged it in, so I presume it was necessary.

There was a 24 pin connector for the power supply. The Hiper has a 20pin plus a 4 pin. There are arrows on both the connectors. Right now both arrows are facing each other. -><-

I noticed before there was a 4 pin connector on the upper right of the mother board. I hooed that up directly to the power supply with it's own 4 pin connector.

Here should be a picture of your board.

At the top right under the purple parallel connector is a 4-pin square type connector, at the bottom is a long white ATX connector (24-pin). That board may only work with ATX2 Power supplies. Do you have the old 480W Hiper or the new 580?

That should be all you need then. Can you try the same PSU in a different board?

I will try that next.

I do have another question.

With the mobo it came with a bronze ribbon maybe 2 inches in length. Any idea what that is used for?

That's an SLI connector used for connecting two nVidia graphics cards together in SLI mode.

The Hiper PS works just fine in my old PC.

Bad mobo?

I tried taking everything out of the PC and reinstalling it. Still nothing. I hate to take this PC to a shop to get it looked at. I have no idea what to do now.

Any more suggestions?

your old mobo may not be ATX2, but it is possible that your board is DOA. You could try disconnecting some stuff (to avoid overload) and use an old PSU in your new board if you have one.

Lol thanks very much! Yeah rounded cables help a lot. If only I could work out why that image takes so long to load. I suppose it was uploaded quite a while ago. There are now two grey crescents on each side of the side fan from the dust that's accumulated!

The X600Se is a pretty damn slow card if you want my honest opinion! How much do you have to spend and where are you from? We can undoubtedly find you something better for the same price, or less!
