Hi All,
I have used VobBlanker and DVD Shrink to make a movie DVD-R size. Like always I view the files in Win DVD by using Play DVD from Folder to make sure that they will run before I burn them and possibly create a coaster. This is the first time that I am using VobBlanker and it is a col tool except for maybe this bug. I get random spots in the movie where it will play upto a certain point, then jump back a few seconds and continue to the point where it jumped back, and then it will jump back again, so it loops between these two points. I can fast forward past the jumpback point and then resume normal speed, and the movie will play OK until it comes up to the next trouble spot.
I have used DVDShrink many times, and this is not caused by DVDShrink. I have shrunk the movie first, and it played fine. Then when I run it through VobBlanker is when the problems occur. I have also ran the full movie through only VobBlanker and the jumping still occurs.
Is there a setting that I need to change in VobBlanker, or is this a real bug?
I have an AMD Athlon XP2500+ with 512MB of RAM, 160 GB HD, ATI AIW 7500 video card, and onboard sound.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Mike

With VOBlanker it's possible to skip the titles you want to keep (I think the button actually says Skip) and then just copy the blanked vobs to the directory with the original files. After that you have to open VIDEO_TS.IFO with IFOEdit and click the Get VTS Sectors button to get the DVD to work correctly. Doing it this way you can avoid having it touch the movie at all. This is off the top of my head, so let me know if the instructions don't make sense or are incomplete.

No problem. I just happened to run across instructions for doing that on Doom9 yesterday. I've never tried it myself, so let me know how it goes.

on disney's atlantis, i used VOBBlanker and blanked the titles i didn't want (there is a skip option too but i thought this would screw things up). i opened the extracted ifo file in IFOEdit and hit 'dvdplay' to see the results, and all i got was a blank black screen and the status was 'playing' but nothing happened and if i tried to skip fwd, nothing happened either. also, the root & title menus don't work.

any ideas?

in IFOEdit, routed thru the PGC menu listings, and thne changed a jump to title, but it does nothing, as i cant get past this 1st black screen.

i tried the get vts titles button too, but it changed nothing.

I must admit Vobblanker can be a real pain in the ...

This is the method i use :-

I first "play" the DVD in my standalone to see just what happens when the disk is booting up. Any item that is played PRIOR to the main movie menu I leave INTACT!!. Sometimes it's best to be safe than sorry.

Everything else, if I desire, I obliterate.

You probably know already, but an updated version of Vobblanker has been released. I am going to have a play around with it and see if theres any improvements.

There is another proggie called Titlesetblanker, but the download link is unavavilable. PM me for details and I will glady mail it to you. It is freeware so there is no copyright infringement problems.

I haven't had any problems with removing anything with VOBlanker. In fact I've been backing up my Farscape DVDs that have a bunch of previews that play before the menus and I couldn't get rid of them with DVD Stripper and still have the disc play. Now I just blank them with VOBlanker and the discs play fine. Just in the last couple of days I've been backing up a bunch of Disney movies that have crap before the menu I don't want, and I haven't had any problems removing it.

hmm, maybe it's ifoedit then. what app do
you use to preview the dvd before burning?

when you blank the titles, you select the vob
file in the top window and blank the
individual titles in the bottom window right?
are any other things maybe i'm forgetting to
do?

Actually the only thing I've been using to preview lately is Media Player Classic. I would normally use IFOEdit, but since I reinstalled my PC a few days ago I can't get IfoEdit's Preview function to work at all. I have Power DVD 4 installed as well, but I don't generally use it.

Sure. Instead of selecting a DVD drive, you can select an option to open files from your hard drive.

No problem. And now, just because I said it was working perfectly for me, it's hanging part way through processing Lilo and Stitch.
