Did you see the message in your log about the SPTD driver?

What other lower/upper filters do you have installed ?
According to the LOG, it sets 4x.
18:13:46 Destination Media Type: DVD-R << This seems to imply the media is not recognized.

What does it say on the device tab in Imgburn?
you should see something like the following, which signifies the disk MID
is recognized:
Physical Format Information (ADIP):
Disc ID: RITEK-004-48
Book Type: DVD+RW
Part Version: 2
Disc Size: 120mm

sounds like it.. Is this a slimline laptop burner?.. the way it's failed is typical of those.. people use crap media and the drive dies after a few semi successful burns.
