I was talking from a Dictator point of view. As in to save hard drive space on what ever system that holds all the Afterdawn threads, Just delete the ones that clearly have no use. Of course this could also lead to dRD, deleting the ones that just make fun of him and seem to resurface every now and again. But I was mainly thinking of all the threads created that just try to sell or scam users.

We need to have a thread spring cleaning. I mean just look at the PS2 forum, over 428 pages in General Discussion. Maybe some sort of mass closure/deletion on most threads after a certain date?
Everyone is entitled to their own true opinion. Either respect that or don't.

Yea, i agree with T.M.
Maybe go through and delete some of the crap threads that have been closed and have nothing to do with aD.
It might take a little while to do, but in the long run its worth it, considering the space it takes up.
Also im sure if newbies go to a Topic that has like 20 pages and see a whole lot of crap, im sure they r just going to start their own as not being bothered to read through all of them.
But hey, this is only my opinon.

That is probably the last reason to delete anything from forums -- all of the almost 500,000 messages in the forums fit into 420 megs. And we got five servers, total of something like 1.5TB of SCSI HDD space :-)
But yes, "totally, completely useless" threads need to be removed from the forums, just to make the forums nicer to use in terms of searchability. But there are almost 90,000 threads now and we (admins) have left the task of removing threads and messages to moderators. Mods are volunteers and everybody understands that you simply can't read through every single thread and message that gets posted here on daily basis (over 700 msgs a day only to English forums nowadays). Despite this, mods are doing great job and soon, as we plan to launch a "report an offensive post" feature at some stage, this hopefully gets even cleaner forum in terms of garbage threads/msgs.

cozza: Of course it is far more if you download the pages in HTML, but the msgs are stored in the database and pages are created dynamically from the db.

If you look at it that way 420/1,572,864mb... lol
