Motherboard problem?

I am at my wit's end here. For about the past month, every time I launch a 3D game, I can play for a few minutes and then all of a sudden my computer just restarts. More specifically, when I play Farcry or City Of Heroes. I haven't played any other games recently.
This is my system:
AMD Athlon XP 2000+
MSI K7T Turbo 2 motherboard
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
1.5 gb RAM
400 Watt Power Supply
DVD Drive
DVD RW Drive
Windows XP Pro
anything else that may help, I will list
Here are the steps i've taken.
1) I figured it was a driver problem with my vid card, so I uninstalled the drivers, and reinstalled them. Still happened. I decided to try my old 64 MB Vid card, A GeForce 2, still happened.
2) I thought that maybe it was some other driver conflict, so I reformatted my HD and reinstalled Windows XP Pro. Still happened.
3) Updated video drivers
4) I wasn't using the latest BIOS for my motherboard, so I flashed my mobo with the newest BIOS. Still happened.
I'm going nuts here so any help will be appreciated. I have tried everything I can think of so any help, I mean anything you have to offer will stop me from aging at an incredible pace. Thanks.

I have seen this happen with heat problems before. Both on the CPU chip, and on the video card as well. Do you have a software program that you can run to determine what temps your processer is hitting when you fire up the games?

What is HSF? --- I put a box fan on the outside of my case, while opening up all the case walls, and the problem no longer happens. It was a heat issue. Now, what should I do to make this go away permanently? I can't just sit here with a box fan running 24/7. What are some programs that will tell the temp? Like motherboard monitor MBM or something like that?

in that case I can safely suggest that your CPU is overheating to hell and thats what is causing the restarts with your comp. Have a check at the temp to verify :)

Yeah, that is a pretty good fan.
I would also consider adding some additional case fans to your computer case as well. (I usually never run less than 4 in mine, and up to 7 in some of the hotter boxes.) But for now, I would consider filling up the existing case fan holes in your case with reasonably quiet 80mm case fans. You have to remember the video chips, and hard drives put out quite a bit of heat as well, so you really need to cool the whole computer down. They can usually be had for under $10 each. The one thing that you can NOT DO, is have your case TO COOL.<smile>
For $5-$7 each, you can get the nice LED ones from newegg.com, so it will add a little light to your case, as well as cool air.

If I'm not mistaken, Nephilim is running that fan it's got a pretty nifty feature of not having a deadzone in the middle :) As shooter says, you should also consider getting some 80mm (or larger) fans to circulate air around in your case :)

use memtest 86 to create a bootable cd that will check all your memory, i work as a bench tech and this is a common issue, make usre u have all your windows updates and direct x 9, also like someone mentioned, power supplies cause reboots like crazy. Good luck

Well, I know this could probably be another thread on it's own, but I was wondering what you guys think of this: I've heard both ways that leaving your computer on all the time, 24*7 is not harmful and that it is... what do you guys think? Does it get too hot overnight, does it ruin your computer?

Hey
Lets put it this way, my computer is on 24/7, except bout once a week when i get it a restart, thats about it. Apart from that its on all the time.
And i have not had a single problem at all.
