I just did The Last Samurai using re author on shrink and the backup has the directors comments Can I get rid of them?

To delete the director's comments make sure you only rip one audio track with Shrink. In other words remove all audio tracks other than the main one in English i.e. 5.1 surround or stereo and make sure you use the re-author mode. You should be able to disable the director's comments from the main menu if you have not re-authored the disc.
