I have a Sony DRU-530A I was burning a cd when it stopped half way and ejected the cd and said there was an error and after that it wouldnt read any cd's or burn anything. I tryed updating the firmware to 2.1a,changing the secondary IDE channel transfer mode to "PIO only" as sony tech support suggested and then restarted and it didnt work then i changed it back to "DMA if available" and its max write speed for cd-r went from 40x to 24x and dvd-r dropped to something like 1x something. What do i need to do to get it to work?

First think I would do is remove the drive in device manager. Then restart and let Windows re-install the drive. This sometimes helps when the drive operation goes downhill for no reason.
