When I am recording a CD from a record player to a CD, the sound quality completely diminishes, the sounds is very quiet. Not only is the sound quiet but the quality is lost. Though when listening to the record through the machine (PC) the record sound just fine. I was wondering if there is a setting I am missing that needs to be changed.

thanks

Let an old stereo salesman help! Many people believe vinyl records are more musical than CDs. When you trasnferred your vinyl to digital, it became a CD and no longer sounded like vinyl. If the recorded sound is too quiet you can adjust the recording input to increase the volume. There is no doubt in my mind that vinyl is warmer to listen to but that partly due to its inability to reproduce HF harnmonics that cause fatique.

1) You can alter the volume of the WAV file before it gets recorded. Nero includes WAV editor; there are also several normalization tools for that very purpose. The only problem is that by increasing the volume of the music material you also increase the volume of any noise signal.
2) You can also increase the volume of the signal as it comes into computer input jacks either via the software (Line-in volume in Mixer / Volume Control) or through actually increasing the output signal coming from the record player.

Life is what happens to you while you're out doing something else...
