hello. my sister managed to completly BSOD her windowsXP. i managed to backup all data, but i ran into problem. CD/DVD rom drive on the notebook is not reading CDs. for some weird reason, it reads only DVDs.
i tried to create ISO from my WINXP install CD and then burn it into DVD. i also tried to download CD ISO of windowsXP and burn it into DVD.

after some googling, i found out that DVD Decrypter might be able to convert CD ISO to DVD ISO and burn it automaticaly, but im getting error while burning.
i also tried burn4free, CDburnerXP, isoburn, load CD image with daemon tools and then try to make copy - no luck.

is it possible to burn CD ISO or CD Image of any kind to DVD and keep it bootable? im using DVD-RW for testing, maybe the DVD-RW is ruined from all the testing, thus the errors.

ps: i already tried to use usb_multiboot_10 to create USB bootable winXP, as it turns out, it wont accept any of my USB flash sticks/memory cards - cannot find compatible FAT32/NFTS, even after reformating those cards/sticks with the multiboot utils.

thx for any feedback. i dont want to install WIN7 to her older notebook just because of this. im really losing my mind over this.

Try BartPe.
I used it to create a bootable DVD for XP.
Run BartPe with your XP CD in the drive.

When it comes time to build the image, I opted to save it as an ISO instead of letting Bart burn it.
I then burned the iso to DVD using ImgBurn.
I booted the PC that I am going to reinstall XP with the new disk.

Note, I only went as to verify the PC would boot with the new disk and the mouse worked.

Well that didn't do what I expected -inasmuch as it doesn't install Windows.

Instead I made an image of my XP CD and burned it to DVD using this method.

Note that I didn't slipstream SP3 - I never used it in my old setup.

The DVD booted up the Windows installation screen OK - I will complete the installation later when time suits.
