When I poppped open my pc to put in a couple of Samsung rdram modules....I discovered that dell but samsung RIMM in mine. Are board will only support a gig of rimm....so point being....im stuck with a gig of rimm. Also they sent wrong card and it take them 3 2 months to get me my Radeon 9700. Its my second Dell and I have to say my last..

Sorry...the question I wanted to ask was did you order your Dell with 1.5 gigs of ram or did you upgrade later?

I have read this 6 times and still cannot figure out what he is asking.
(But Praetor with a Dell! Now that's funny.)
We must all remember that English is the second language, for many people who write to the Forums.

(LOL) Did you find your perfect super-case yet?
BetaZeta you want to open your case before you have the memory to install in-your-hand...
Most people would find 1GB adequate (I myself am strugglin' along with 512MB)

Without going off topic (if thats possible) too much, no :( Its really aggravating because I saw it a few years back at a computer show when I didnt care for a modded case so I didnt get it

BetaZeta:
I would imagine the system came stock with 1GB at most.... even their gaming systems (which are very nice, albeti expensive) dont have 1.5GB RDRAM :) (not that I know of anyways)

I thought by applying Flip 218?s name to the thread people would understand that I was asking him that question. His Forum signature lists his computers specs. This is how I found out that his computer is the same series as my computer (except for the fact that he received Rdram with his order and now supports a gig and a half of Rdram).

I have also taken the time to edit my original post to clear things up. Sometimes you can make mistakes when typing in a hurry.

(Edited and revised original post)

I also have a Dell 8250 Flip 218(Member). The shipping letter that came with the bundle said that they had installed half a gig of Rdram on the PC. Are board supports up to 1.5 gigs of Rdram and only 1 gig of RIMM. I popped open my pc to put in two sticks of Samsung 256 Meg Rdram and discovered that dell had screwed me over by substituting my Rdram with Rimm. Dell had also sent me the wrong video card. It took them 2-3 months to get me my Radeon 9700. This is my second Dell and I have to say my last...
No complaints about my 1st Dell...
My next PC will be and MDG.

I have found the answer to my own question. Apparently when I purchased my Dell 8250 series Dell was in the process of discontinuing that model. They had short ordered there Rdram and subbed the last few orders with RIMM.

If there happens to be anymore errors in my post, would you please pass them on to my English teacher.

Thanx for trying to read my thread

The next thread I post will be legible.

I knew there had to be SOME logic to this post! LOL -- FYI there are well over 100,000 users to this forum and as much as I like to say we are a small community -- we arent ;-) Perhaps if you leave him a PM asking him to come to this thread we might all be able to get an answer :)

This is more than I can say for a lot of people. Thank you. :)

Might I suggest you excercise caution when buying OEMs (and more specifically with *DG companies) since they have a tendency to rip you off (in this case with your Dell you were kinda ripped off because RDRAM is kinda dead, Dell knows it but they still ship systems with RDRAM anyways so in effect eventually forcing people to upgrade).

A curiosity: doesnt RDRAM come in RIMMS? (Rambus Inline Memory Module) and they have to come in pairs also?

LOL
Praetor you are correct.
Not that I doubted you. : )
RIMM(Rambus Inline Memory Module)
RDRAM(Rambus Dynamic Random Access Memory)

Dealing with Dell tech support is rated up there with having your toe nails pulled out with rusty pliers.

I checked out Samsungs semiconductor site. I now understand what's going on.

You mentioned something thing about companies that end in "DG". Can you elaborate on that.

Thank's guys for the help : )

MDG
Those are the 'Buck-a-Day' people in Ontario, they specialize in integrated motherboards (without an empty AGP slot, for upgrades). They have never heard of AMD.

Praetor! You are always watching, following...
RAMBUS, scary stuff eh? Still available at Premier (albeit Special Order).
So BetaZeta are you fixed up? Don't mind me (I can barely read, anyway)

LoL... Yes, MDG does now offer a buck-a-day pc package and there commercials are just as annoying. My local MDG store offers PC packages with optional equipment at great prices. Most of there listed components are of brand names that I recognize. Now that I have read your reply I will steer clear of MDG.
It's been a while since I've last visited Premier's web site. I was unaware that they built custom order systems. I will keep them on the top of list when I decide to go shopping for a new PC.

Thanx for the warning and the link!

Yes annoying.
If you require a nice high-end ($$) system then Praetor and I will fight over you... ;}
You can do OK at MDG, just keep your wits about you. But, no AMD! You could get a Barton for practically the same price as a Celeron 2000.

Ya well I blame this program I wrote. It does a lot of grammar correction on the fly so when I pasted your original quote in, it saw the "its" part of "wits" and decided to correct it to "it's" ... cut me some slack I just developed that functionality today -- still working on trying to make it so that it doesnt cause me more trouble than it's worth.
