I have downloaded DVD43 and it won't work with IC8? I still get the CSS protected message. Does ANY DVD work? I don't mind the extra step of ripping it to hard drive with DVD Decrypter or Shrink as long as it doesn't muck with the quality. I feel if you feed IC8 garbage, it can only put out garbage. All suggestions appreciated.

If I recall correctly DVD43 requires the Patin Coffin layer to work properly. Here's a FAQ thread regarding DVD43 if you haven't looked at it yet:

Patin Coffin can be found here:

You can also use DVD Decrypter with no loss in quality. It only removes the encryption/region and changes nothing else.

Thanks for the suggestion, but the Patin-Couffin patch did not work either. I still get the CSS Decryption warning. I guess I have to stick to Decrpter and Shrink once again.

DVD43 v2.0.0.71
UPDATE: DVD43 is now stand-alone, which means it now works without the VSO's Patin-Couffin driver. Also, support for Win9x/ME has been implemented.

for your info -- no need for Patin-Couffin modules now.

By the way have you tried AnyDVD to go around the CSS ?

I have not tried Anydvd, because I was trying to find a way without dropping $40. As long as I am assured that using Shrink to strip or Decryptor to burn to hard drive first, does not affect the quality, I don't mind doing it that way first.

I use shrink to "trim" movies prior to utilising Pinnacle. In my opinion there is no noticeable difference in quality. I wouldnt worry, just use the extra step, as you stated. As Pinnacle takes a good while to transcode, the thought of my dvd drive wurring away for an hour or 2 simply does not appeal to me, hence I would never use DVD43 or any other similar product.
