Imagine my surprise.. Purchased 200 pcs of MEMOREX in Spindle 50ps from e-cost and found the manufacture ID using DVDinfo as RITEKG04.. I like Reitek but I paid for Memorex at 1.10 per DVD and I can get Ritek for about .70 per DVD.. I called Memorex customer support 877-474-8548 and they verified that is correct, they just stamp their name on the disk..but use other brands.. I she did not offer anything more.
The reason I have a problem with this is out of 50 I have 5 bad burns and that?s unusual as with Ritek G04 I can go through 200 without a single failure.. I searched this fourm and did not find any post like this so I am wondering if anyone has found this to be ture.?

Memorex is never Memorex, they buy whatever is cheap at the time and put their name on it. Ritek G04 is much better than what they usually sell. Most likely the Riteks were substandard and that's why Memorex got them cheap.

I'm just curious, if you know that the Riteks are good discs, and you know you can buy them for about 2/3 the price of the Memorex discs, why not by Ritek in the first place? Do you have a player that doesn't like them or something?
I was looking for something better and was fooled by the MEMOREX name.. I did not know they use Ritek.. Learn the hard way Now others will know and not make the same mistake..
Well be thankful you didn't get Memorex/CMC. It's interesting how companies are able to buy old names, Memorex, RCA, KLH etc., and through various marketing practices attach some value. Even in it's heyday, Memorex was always second tier.
