Hi--

I have several films in mp4 or VOB file formats that I want to Nero-burn onto DVDs to watch on a TV--I am able to easily transfer the former to the latter, but I cannot burn the files because they are 2.5 GB or above each, and Nero requires them 1GB or under. I have downloaded 16 supposedly free splitters but NONE work and only very few are really free. How is the best way, what freeware, can help me do this? I can either split the mp4 first and then transfer to VOB, or split the VOB resulting file. ANy advice/free shareware to do this would be greatly appreciated. I prefer TRULY easy to use user-friendly programs. PLEASE do not recommend the "free"programs that let you do only 2 minutes of a transfer!

I don't use it but sounds like DVDShrink can, from another post "Load in the DVD image ("Load Files" if it's on your hard drive)then click the "Reauthor" button.
Drag the Title from the right-side box over to the left, then click the two blue arrows facing left and right button, above the left-side box.
In the new dialog box, you have two preview panes and some buttons - one for the start point and one for the end point.
Use the double arrow buttons to move 5 seconds, at a time, and the single arrows to move 1 second. You can see, in the preview pane, where you are, in the video.
Once you've chosen the start and end points, click OK to go back to the original screen.
Click "Backup" and choose a destination for your output to be saved in.
DVDshrink will create a new VIDEO_TS folder with new *.IFOs and *.BUPs for your newly created clip, as well as an empty AUDIO_TS folder.
Create a folder and give it a name that will tell you what the clip is and put the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders into it.
Now, you're ready to do your next clip." Believe there is an option to split vob files at edit>preferences>output too

Oh, no, DVD shrink will not even recognize only an VOB file, and when I did make an IFO and BUP file, it burned but would not play at all. I've used DVD Shrink for years and of course would use it if it would recognize it.
Thanks!

You Might Try Dvd Flick For The MP4s.
