Get a better TV
I know this seems idiotic but it is usually caused by your TV not being able to handle the signal from the Wii - resulting in black screen
Some games can be patched to force the picture - however there are some that cannot.
I have 2 x LCD TV
Sony - plays everything with no patching
LG - needs to be patched and will still black screen on some games

Forcing NTSC and patching NTSC is pretty much doing the same thing. But as kittymat said, some games just will not work when forcing or patching to another region.
Recommended option to avoid this is download the game in the proper region so you don't come across this issue again.
HERE is a compatibility list of games that can be region forced/patched and those that can not be.

Thanks for the information. I usually download NTSC only. However, I was told by a friend that he was able to play other regions. I guess having a better tv can be helpful, although, I'm sorry to say that I'm behind the times.

Really!!
1 x Wii attached to a Sony TV plays everything, changing NOTHING, I attach it to an LG TV with the same lead, several games now refuse to load (Black Screen).
