I need some help with my wii and USB loader. My wii was modded by a buddy about a year ago and I am not sure what all he did besides it being a soft-mod. I have the homebrew channel and Neogamma. I never used homebrew and really don't even know what it is.

Anyways, I used an external hdd and played my games through Neogamma with no problems until recently. I think a new game my kids played might have updated the wii? I currently have 4.2 showing for firmware. I really do not know what to do and every guide I have found involves a wii that has not been modded or reloading the SD card that I originally used. I don't have that and just need information on what I need to do to get it working again. Please let me know what information you need and I will gladly get it. Thank you in advance.

update to 4.3
softmod with indiana pwns or smash stack
install CIOS and IOSES wads
install USBLOADERGX

Thanks but a couple quick questions...
Can I update the wii online?
Will updating to 4.3 keep homebrew on the wii?
No clue what wads are or where to get them.

I know computers but have never messed with gaming consoles. I am sure I can figure it out with just a little more information.

Do not update - if you do you have to find one of only a few discs that will enable you to hack the Wii (Expensive!)

Look for a program called ModMii, put it on your PC and use the Wizard function, tell it you have a virgin 4.2 wii and it will download all the cios files, required ios's the extra programs and to top it all a step by step guide. It is simple and reliable!

b1gh3ad - 4.3 gives you nothing! If running games from a hard drive the wii ios files are not used (apart from the system menu), the loader and games all run off the cios files and these are all that need to be updated, unless you want to use the wii shop in which case you need to add ios56 and the latest shop channel - all of which Modmii can do without the problems of updating.

That sucks, I already updated to 4.3 so I guess I will have to find a disc to get this done. I think my cousin has a copy of Indiana Jones so hopefully that will work. What CIOS and IOSES wads do I need and where do I get them?

I know there are a lot of tutorials on how to mod a Wii, but I can not find anything for Wiis that have already been modded. I just don't want to brick this thing.

If you still have the homebrew channel then you do not need the game, if you don't then you need to start from scratch.

If you want a guide use the Modmii wizard - it creates one for every Wii.

ALWAYS call your wii virgin in the wizard and it will not brick.
