I have a PS3 slim and I'm thinking of installing a CFW but I'm not sure which one I should install and also which backup manager I should install.

Any tips?

Also what's the best backup manager?

From what I can see browsing around Multiman and Gaia are mentioned but I'm not sure which is better.

No one comes close to Multiman. Beware of the latest one because it removed the payloads.

Payloads are what is used to play the backups. If you go with 1.16 you can get a pkg called bdemu to restore playing backups.


I think it was removed for his own safety kinda like when dvd decrypter became imgburn. He removed the decryption so it was not illegal.

I think thats what Dean has done here. Remove the payload so its simply a homebrew movie and music player so it should not be illegal anywhere. That way he can keep on working on it.

I'll take Gaia over multiman...the interface is clean and it loads and scrolls quickly. Plus, the developer is not afraid to make it work right out of the box, and they don't release super-buggy versions like that multiman release that would crash if you had a DS3 connected by USB.

One final question.

If I want to go back to an OFW how would I do it and would I lose all my backedup games?

I've downloaded this. All I have to do is use this to update the PS3 and I don't have to do anything to the file?

Anyway, I decided to go forward with it but every time the update gets to 16% I get an error message:

an error occurred during the copy operation (80029C55)

Anyone know what's going on?
