If im not mistaken (someone correct me if I'm wrong) v1 thru v4 only take -R and higher version's take -R and +R---> v9 thru v10 can take -R +R and RW

Yup that's correct. Some version 4's can read dvd+r but some can't so you should probably go with dvd-r to be on the safe side.

Most dvd games are burned to a standard 4.7GB dvd-r. The size of the games very though. There are a few (not many though) games that are dvd9 which can get to be around 8GB.

There are only 2 dvd9 games which are xenosaga and metal gear 2 substance. You have to rip them to a 4.7gb.

In order to get a dvd9 game to fit on a 4.7GB dvd-r you will have to take out the movies and audio files so that it's small enough to fit on a 4.7gb dvd-r. I think you can also copy the game to two 4.7gb dvd-r's. I wouldn't worry about it to much since there are only 2 dvd9 games :-) As for which brand dvd-r to burn to, I usually use fujifilm dvd-r.

try using DVD Decrypter, it works very well, and it's free. just go to the software section on this site and download it.
