You must not have caught one of my threads, thought you were on it. The gist is that InterVideo is pretty good. I'm going to keep it until I start getting a problem. The picture quality was so good doing LOTR-Return of the King; one could almost touch the knap on the velvet cloaks. I mentioned causing a pixel problem (old movies and poor decryption/ripping). Anyway, unless they remedied the algorithm, when you get a white pixel with DVDCopy2, it jumps out as a square block. On a 60" set, things tend to get exaggerated.

I don't really pick on AnyDVD. It is good enough to be a keeper on my PC. I just have it setup to use when I want it. It doesn't get to come on at startup and run in the background. It is best suited for on the fly with ripper free programs. It is an excellent program for those who want to use it or need it for a particular application. It is just that I (personally) don't record on the fly very often and don't have the need for the program too often. Note, I said I like it and keep it around, can't give it much more of a compliment.

Guess I need to keep my eyes open, 'ey Verne. I was thinking InCD when you were saying AnyDVD. Me and my pea-picken one track mind.
(Now you have me doin that 'hey Verne' routine.)

Edited for BR549. Get it Verne?

coachop94,

Now that you have those programs you mentioned off your PC, have you tried re-installing XCopy? Another thing you could try is using a different Patin-Couffin layer. This has worked for others.

I have the stand alone DVD43. I thouhgt it did not require the patin-coufin drivers. I had problems with the patin- coufin drivers .It was keeping my computer from shutting down. I've come home to find it still on. Can't have that. So i'll reinstall the express and dvd43(newone) and see what happens then. Thanks

coachop, The standalone DVD43 2.0 does NOT require patin couffin. There is some confusion as to whether it is free or just a 30 day trial, the v.1.4 is free and DOES require patin couffin, stay away, causes problems with a lot of people. If you do have to purchase, get anydvd, it also has a 30 day trial, works better than DVD43, dvdregion free also has a 30 day trial, and is comparable to anydvd. good luck....

Yes Coachop,
The moniker did have me fooled. I'll still treat you like one of the guys (or girls, as I don't treat women or men differently on the forum). The patin coufin that came with the program has worked for me. So that is one of the things that seems to be sensitive to different systems.

Bouducon.dll is the file that affects ripping with the 321 software. In fact, with the Platinum, one can take their old version and use the bouducon.dll to replace the one in RF and make a ripper version out of it. As this fix has been running rampant, I'm not telling any secrets. May be why 321 stopped activating older programs and updating them. Last I heard, 321 had cut out a lot of support and activation of older ripper software or upgrades based on them.

There is a patch at Tripod.com to do the switch. I think they call it 321 RIP. Don't know if it will work on the gold or not. Here is the URL if you want to check the thread out, they discuss the ripper and fix.

I don't know if you want to invest in any more software or not. DVD43 doesn't do well on all systems. Some others and I had problems with it. It is good for the ones it works for. If you suspect problems with it, you might want to try a retail product such as AnyDVD. If it works, enjoy and the free price never hurts unless the freebie heads south.

BTW, did you check to see that you could reactivate the program?

Can anyone tell me where I can download the update for DVD XCOPY Gold? I purchased the program almost a year ago, and I don't have version 3.0.4, just version 3.0.2. I have spent two hours searching the web, including these forums, and can't find the updated download available anywhere.

I believe this company still sells the programs.
You might want to check this site as well.
