Unable to read a data DVD-R with my TDKDVDRW0404N

I have a problem. I have a batch of DVD-R's burnt using a SONY DVD burner from my office that I want to use at home. My problem starts when I insert those DVD-R's into my TDK DVDRW0404N(I have updated the firmware to the lastest version available v1.0A). It will detect the DVD-R and an autorun option will popup givng me the option to open and view content or play the avi files found on the DVD-R with windows media player. an option I select will then cause the whole the drive to constantly read the DVD-R and yet not do anything. After a while it will say not responding and thats it. I am unable to access any of the data on the DVD-R at all. BTW I am using WinXP Professional. I brought the DVD-R back to my office and tried it out on the SONY Burner and to my surprise it works perfectly fine. I have no idea what is exactly wrong. Morever it works fine on certain DVD-ROMS only too.

try cd roller to read the missing flies. i checked it out -- it seemed fine to me.
