What happened to the DVR forum?

I was just wondering if anyone ever cracked the code on transferring/converting the files from an external drive connected to a Dish DVR. This would be very helpful since I'm about to move and I'm finally dropping Dish. I have hundreds of hours of programming that I don't want to lose. It would be nice if I could transfer it to an external drive and then retrieve in on my PC later. Any help would be nice.
