hi...this may sound stupid...but is there a big difference in the time it takes to burn a dvd with an internal vs. an external...my friend has an internal and he says it takes approximately 50 min to burn a dvd (30 to read and 20 to write)...i have an external and mine is taking like...3 hrs? (1 hr to read and 1.5 hrs to write)....is it suppose to be like that...or is there something wrong with my player? btw i'm using dvdxcopy platnium and clone dvd....

also...another question...should i turn off all my other programs, ie. aim/music/virus scan/ when i am burning because my 1st dvd didn't turn out so well (a lot of skips and pauses) and i was thinking it was becasue i had a lot of programs running...is it the reason?

thanks to whoever responds....i know i am a noobie and appreciate your help

Do you have your burner plugged into a USB 2.0 port? From your times I'm guessing not.

Absolutely. Burning takes a lot of system resources and your system is best left alone while burning.

Yep. USB 1.1 doesn't have the bandwith to support a DVD burner properly.

A simple solution would be to pick up an inexpensive USB 2.0 PCI card for your computer to run your burner.
