Your Duron runs 100MHz FSB x 13. If your mobo supports 133MHz(266DDR) FSB then you can buy an Athlon XP2400+ (for $105 bucks CDN, ~$75 USD) and pop it right in, simple.
At least twice as fast, easy!
I think SiS730 is the chipset used, and not the actual mobo make or model #
Apart from CPU you will need more/bigger hd, to do what you say you want.
I would rather have two 40GB drives than one 80GB, just a thought.
HEY! This isn't Paris Hilton, is it!? LoL

just had a look at an AMD Athlon XP2400 266 FSB 256 cache thoroughbred with heatsink and fan for 40bq (thats british quids) any chance of finding one with a bigger cache or would that be impossible/waste of time?

My eye also roamed down to an Athlon 64 3700 1mb box....only £450 bargain (think my comp needs a big sister!) if i tell them its for paris hilton do you think they'll give me one just coz im cute??

Cheaper to buy one 80gig hard drive than two 40's so could i partition it for similar effect?

oh and my budget is under £200 (that's... er...at the current exchange rate..um..lots of dollars) as can buy whole new system for £350.(probably)

DumbBlond, I think that you will probably have to post a picture here before we can answer that. :)

Uf you've got a decent motherboard and some decent cooling then OCing shouldnt be a problem.

Windows XP should be okay ... if you want the most performance out of it though, spend some time cleaning out the gunk in it :)

See the Official Cooling thread for more ideas but one good one would be the Thermaltake K7 Silentboost.
