I have been having problems with my DVD Burner and CD Burner not refreshing after I remove the discs. I am not sure where the problem is coming from but I can not find out how to fix the problem. After every movie that I back-up I have to restart my computer because no matter what DVD I put in, it displays the previous DVD. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

3200+ AMD 64 Processor, 1 GB DDR Ram, 160 GB HD, Windows XP Pro, DVD X Copy 4.0.3.8...I also am using a HP 420i DVD Burner.

Hi,

I've had this happen but it never really bothered me since it didn't affect anything.

Is it causing problems other than it displays the wrong movie title?

I've had that problem recently to, where you removed one DVD from your drive and then inserted another only to receive a message that the newly inserted DVD was invalid. I had to reboot before any newly inserted DVD would be identified, for some reasons my drive was being perceived as a folder. I tried everthing to figure it out. My advice, unless you want to spend countless hours figuring it out then do a System Restore.

I think that it has something to do with windows xp because it is not just when I copy a DVD but rather any disc that I use. This really sucks!

I had the same problem, only worse, on the first PC I used a DVD burner on. In my case I often couldn't get XP to notice that I'd put a disc in until I'd rebooted several times. Fortuanately on that PC I also had Windows 2000, and I ended up doing all my DVD backups on that OS. I'd like to say I know a solution, but the PC was taken out by a lightning strike before I figured out anything useful, and I haven't ever had that problem with my current one.

I'm sticking with my system restore suggestion because I agree with you, it has something to do with XP. If you've installed any new software lately then uninstall it. Then do a system restore.

Okay, I just put tony hawk pro skater 3 into my d drive, autorun did not come up or anything, so i clicked my computer and it looks like this

Notice it says there is nothing in the D drive, then when i click the d drive i get this

Then i can push setup and install it and such. I do not know why it is doing this? anyone have any idea? Sometimes it says the game is in there and then i take it out and it still says the game is in there, and it finally goes away when i retart the computer, i hope i explained good enough

What do you mean problem solved? I did not see anything about this topic at overclockers.com. Please explain. Thanks

I reformatted my hard drive and put a fresh version of WinXP Pro on it. It has started again :(. I am beginning to think that it has something with installing DVD X COPY, PowerDVD, or some other program that is interfering with Windows XP.

I did that but no help. I do not have Roxio Products on my computer. I do have DVD X COPY but that shouldn't be the problem. I will keep investigating. Thanks anyway.

That might have worked after all!!!! Although I did remove a program called 123 COPY DVD and Kazaa from my computer, I also did the registry edit and something seemed to work because the drives are refreshing now. Hopefully that fixed the problem. Thanks! I will monitor my CPU in the next couple days and if nothing changes, I will write you in for PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES in NOV'04!!!!
