again thanks everyone for your inputs,i have a backup of the labtop since jan2011 and now going to reinstall this and hopefully all will be ok,i will take what ddp said on board and make sure an anti-virus is installed.

you know,it would be a good idea to read all the posts first before giving uninformed,half assed advice like that.it looks like hes got it sorted out to me.im not at all convinced he has a virus in the first place.not to mention the fact that he posted back and said it was fixed.

aidan,thanks for your reply, i already went through what that article said but still no joy,as far as i can tell i seem to be missing a driver for net?
