My problem is, that the film starts freezing in the end of the movie.

I'm using a Plextor PX-708A with DVD Shrink 3.17 combind with AnyDVD and Nero 5.5.

Every thing seems to be working fine, during the burning process. But no matter what i try the film starts freezing within the last 10 to 15 minutes, when I try to play them on my DVD player.

I thourght it might had some thing to do with the amount of data i was trying to burn. But even though I decreased the output file size to 3,9 GB the problem still occurs.

Do i have a problem with my software setup?

Do i have a faulty DVD burner?

Or am I using bad DVD media?

Any help is most welcome.

I have had the same problem in the past with the end of a movie freezing . I use only Memorex or Maxell media and it seemed to happen to both. Freezing not on computer but only on stand alone DVD player.
To fix problem I now burn at 2.4x (instead of 4x) and make sure **ALL** other applications are closed(including virus scanner). I have reburned a movie that was freezing at lower speed, and second try was okay. That said I did a backup the other day at 2.4x and I noticed that it was freezing at very end title... but only happens very rarely at now 2.4x burn.
Good luck, I know I've made my share of coasters. Keep trying it'll come. Use RW and experiment.

Poor media is the most likely culprit - if you are useing lables on your media, this will compound the problems.

Any issue I have had with freezing has always turned out to be media. I am currently using Ritek Ridata which I get from Newegg.com. They just lowered there price on +RW and +R. They give you free shipping and are very reliable.

Reducing the target file size to something like 4,300 MB or lower may help by keeping the burn further away from the edge of the disc :)

colw and oneacer your right, freezing is most likely a media issue. Simon_d have you seen this site? http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

Make sure it is not your dvd player. I found that using Verbatim DVD+R's and writing at one speed worked fine until now. Burning on RW's also does not test anything. Somehow it works better on RW's. I have now come to the conclusion that it is my freakin' SAMSUNG piece of crap DVD player that wouldn't play my discs completely since I found that all my movies worked perfectly on a "less expensive" Sansui.

I have had the same problem, I download some movies from the net and burn them to dvd+r office depot media. I used dvd workshop by ulead to subtitle my movies and the first 3 movies I burned 2 came out find and 1 is freezing at the end of the movie, then I play it on an Emerson dvd player and it worked no freezing, so I decided to download the small update(16MB) for dvd workshop because i think that having new encoding drivers will get the problem solve, but it was worst. Now i can play the whole movie in any dvd player but at the end of the movie the subtitles disappear, it doesnt freeze anymore instead it take away the subtitles(really weird because at the preview it shows the subs till the end of the movie and after burning, they suddenly disappear nearly the end of the movie). Now I´m downloading the big update(160MB) for dvd workshop and I bought better media, I just bought some Verbatims Digital Movie Maker DVD+R 4X & Memorex DVD+R 8X, today I am going to burn a new movie into my new DVD media with the last update for dvd workshop, hope this works. Please if you have any comments or ideas please let me know. This is really frustrating.

Thanks
