Please have more meaningful titles than "kk". Since I'm a student on a budget, I'd spend more money on the mobo and cooling and OC the P4C-2.8 rather than getting a stock P4C-3.0 because I know i'd get more performance for my buck.

My opinion would be pay the little extra for the 3.0Ghz, and not overclock it.
But still, if u wanted to still get the 'better' fan, and maybe other time overclock the 3.0.

For a whole 200mhz, i would buy the 3.0GHz, and leave it at that.

Cause overclocking, if done wrong can stuff the CPU as well as the motherboard in some cases, and not sure if this is 100% but would probably void any warranty on it.

I would normally agree with you however considering the price jumps .... is 200Mhz worth that much?

Prolly will void the warranty but those warranties are more hassle then they are worth! (I've collected a couple times).

My opinion would be pay the little extra for the 3.0Ghz, and not overclock it.

Suppose your were buying the same chip, processor, 2.8 or 3.0, same chip but PaPa InTel set a performance adjustment on it that could with a twist of a knob turn you up or turn you down? Same chip! Depends on who's turning the knob. When everything's the same the faster or slower chip is the same except for its user. I would choose to overclock 100% of the time when it's possible.

That is why i said IN MY OPINION...., and i belive thats what they were asking for, opinions....

I would prefer to not Overclock it.

Especially if you have never done it before, on a new chip, that could cause a few problems, but hey, its not up to me.

cozza1987 - you have to admit it probably makes more financial sense to overclock (true there's a gamble but then again 2.8Ghz is fast enough for a lot of things) ... now from a technical perspective, OCing isnt all that dangerous :) .... provided (a) you go slow and (b) you get cooling

EYEShurt - We have a cooling thread.

Sophocles - Hehe you're not one to use the "quote" tags are you :P

Maybe, yes, maybe no. I know i can over clock my 2.6GHz if i wanted to, but im just happy how it is at the moment, plus i dont really have money to go and get antoher fan, since im getting my new 200G HDD....

But, yea you can overclock it, granted, it would probably be cheaper, i do agree there, its just im not really into overclocking and i would probably pay the extra money.

Even if we ignore the overclock, it's still potentially a better financial deal to buy the 2.8Ghz because the price jump to the 3.0Ghz isnt quite worth it (IMO). Now if you get a good deal, go for it! :)
