Hello All,

Please be gentle with me, as I know almost zero about computing etc....

I was wondering, as burning mp3 to CD-R has a quite a limited capacity (10-14 tracks) in my very limited experience.

Is it possible to burn them & please don't laugh too much! To DVD-R which has obviously a higher storage capacity, assuming a CD player would read & play the files.

Or, when you have all picked yourself up off the floor! is there another way of doing this on another form of media.

Sorry for the stupid question.

Regards Nerdy1

You should able to burn ur mp3 into a DvD-R but for a CD player to read... it might not able to read it... think about it lol

don't give up hope yet, test it yourself!

I really thought I would have a chance with Vincci...

Hello GundamZZ,

Thank you for responding, did not think anyone was going to reply.

However your reply has not really hepled me.

You suggest "I should think about it", how can I think about it, as I explained within the question I know basically Zero about such things.

I do know what lol means, so I guess you are telling me in a round about way that it is not possible.

I suppose if you are up on these things it may seem funny, but it was an honest straightforward question & I am just trying to learn!

As far as I was concerned CD is a storage media with about 700mb of capacity & a DVD (single layer) is another type with about 4.7 GB.

There is nothing obvious to me as a Computer Nerd, that the content stored as data or MP3 etc... on storage media & it's subsequent use is restricted to specific devises.

To give you an insight to how my logic works.

If you stuffed £100,000 in to a shoe box to save you could access it later, if you stuffed £100,000000 in to a wheelie bin to save you could access it later, the nett result is the same you can us access it when you want, just that one holds more than the other.

Bye

Nerdy1

i see whats going wrong here. you must have burnt it as an audio cd. whihc was decode into uncompressed.

if you want the mp3, burn it as a data cd.

Hello shiroh,

Now I think we are getting somewhere.

So if I back up a collection of MP3 files onto a DVD-R disc as Data it will be able to be read & played on a standard external CD player?

Sorry for the recap, it's just I am abnormally thick

Bye Nerdy1

No - what they are trying to tell you is that you cannot play a DVD on a dedicated CD player. Try burning the mp3's as a data CD (you'll fit many, many more than 14 on there). If your CD player supports MP3 then it will play them quite happily. If you burn them to DVD then you'll need to find a DVD player that supports MP3 playback.
