Also, when I watch the second half of the movie in Media Player, there is no sound. The first half had sound. I'm starting to think there's something in the first vob file of this movie to make everything work properly.

Oh you mean IFO Edit, no I didn't use it on this movie. I can't get to the stage of quick builder where it asks you what language you want.

Read Tlippy's post above, I have the same problem. He said it will only work if he puts the first vob filer in it. I have the same problem with this movie. I really think it's the movie. I made a movie before using the same programs and I was fine. Now I'm trying to copy The Fast and the Furious.

Okay, I think I figured it out. An mpeg2 file plus an audio file = a vob file. When I play the last two vob files I ripped, it plays with no audio. When I play the first half of the movie it plays with audio. The audio for this movie is in the first vob file. That's why quick builder is not letting me build the last two vob files and telling me they're not vob format. Now how do I get the audio files out of the first vob file? I don't want to copy the whole file with the last two files or then I'd have the beginning of the movie merged with the end. Any suggestions? BTW, I tried your vob merge, still the same thing. It's not the software, it's the files.

any vob mean mpeg2+audio...if you have a vob, there is audio in it.

before you merge the file try to play them with a player like powerdvd, so we know if it is the ripping or the mergeing....let me know, and let's try a way to comunicate faster...can you install messenger from microsoft????
if it is the ripping, use smartripper and see what is happening...

with smartripper you can take directly from a chapter..see where the first half ends, then take it from there....but first, make sure it is the ripping

I don't have win xp on this computer. Okay, the only vob file that plays audio is the first one. What's going on here? If I play any other vob's, they play but I can't hear anything.

and DO NOT merge when you rip, that's only for movies under 4,7 gb....make separate vobs.
take them all out,not only last 2, play with a dvd player, if it is ok, then merge them

I haven't been merging them when I rip. I've ripped them all as individual vob files. The only one that plays audio is the first vob.
