I guess i would put that under the don't believe everything you read category. StreamBox and Real settled a lawsuit years ago where StreamBox agreed to stop developing and distributing StreamBox VCR and a couple other software programs. StreamBox did not have the money to fight the much bigger Real and the judge in the case seemed to be on Real's side. They sometimes have sent out emails requesting that site's don't make it available anymore but have pretty much given up on that. Many company's and people now make software that does the exact same thing's as StreamBox VCR.

If it is legal to own and use a VCR where you live, then I think that StreamBox VCR would be about the same.

The recomended version of StreamBox VCR.

I don't think you know what you want or what are talking about. The only one who said anything about CD ripping has been you.

I gave you a site where you could find.
Streaming media recording software.
Direct audio recording software.
Video capture software.
Shoutcast ripper software.

That's all there is and all you need.
There are many different types of internet radio streams. You need to know the type of stream, protocol and files you are dealing with and then select the correct option for that stream.

If you had an example of a stream you want to record then something could be recommended.

Why are people so all fired concerned about legality. If you want download or stream something who cares if it's legal or not. All these companys are concerned with is getting money from you. I use StreamBox Ripper and whatever else I need to save music.

You could also use a free program called Audacity.

It is a full featured audio editting tool, but one of the things it lets you do is record whatever is playing through your soundcard. You can then export as MP3, or better yet OGG Vorbis.

You can get it at http://audacity.sourceforge.net

We do it because it's the right thing to do and also because protects this forum from those that would see it gone. Do what you must but try a little discretion, I like it here and if you do to then help us protect it.

GundamZZ - and whoever else wants to know A program called Total recorder will allow you to record anything going through your soundcard it works! As to the legality of recording internet radio I'm no lawyer or Legislator but I think it should fall under the fair use clause ! after all your allowed to tape songs off the radio and your doing the same thing here albeit with better technology than a cassette deck. you will either have to monitor while recording to edit out the stuff you don't want or use some type of audio editing program to make individual tracks otherwise you'll have one big wave file.hope this helps. obey the law , obey your concious - and be able to take responsiblity for any course of action you choose! bigtoxy69

I don't care for capturing any streams below MP3 128K quality, so I use an app called Super Mp3 recorder pro. But you have to pay for it.

yes guys & or gals if applicable I only mentioned total recorder because thats what I am familiar with . And total recorder also has to be paid for the free version only does a small snippet of audio not worth the bother. There could be many ways to achieve the same ends . concievably the person desiring to record internet radio could export the audio to a recorder of some kind and then import it back throufgh the sound card . this coulld work but might also add some distortion. although one could also use an optical /toslink output and input and a digital deck of one sort or another and stay in the digital realm if one really wanted to do this in this way. I think it would be much easier to just do it all internally with total recorder or one of the other programs you gentlemen have described and be done with it but the option is on the person making the recordings isn,t it. thank you guys & gals I learn more each time I visit afterdawn.com & if I can help anyone out with my limited knowledge I feel honored to do so. I purchased Super MP3 pro because as you know when you're stream recording all the songs are lumped together into one large file (often referred to as an album wrap). This is ok if you don?t mind not being able to skip a song or two but if you want to extract one song for a compilation then you have to edit it out. Super MP3 Recorder Pro includes and editor that does that.

I'm not sure what it is you're saying, you might want to be a little clear.

What I was saying is that if you have 10 songs recorded into one large single file as though it was one large song, MP3 recorder Pro's edting allows you to slice out each individual song.
