i recently bought a new graphics card. the name of it is in my sig below. it is a good card, but i have a problem. i have it in the two monitor mode and my desktop is extended to the second monitor, but the bottom windows toolbar doesnt extend. neither does my program list, which is very annoying considering the amount of programs on my computer. if anyone knows how to make the toolbar extend, please post here.

well, i was on a low budget... but it sure is better than what i had originally. anyway, i havent found anything that makes the display span in the way i want it to. could it be that ati just hasnt made this option in their drivers for my card?

Are you using the latest drivers? If so then the option should be there.

Realistically the updates only give added features and support for the newest cards.

Added features for games, Praetor. I only play one game on my PC. Links 2003. The past 4 versions of
the Catalyst drivers has screwed up my golf game. lol I have a Sony SDM-M81, 18" LCD monitor. The native resolution (with digital cable connection) is 1280x1024. The Cat 4.4 - 4.7's don't support that resolution in Links. I had to go back to the Cat 4.3's, and they are just fine.
Daemonzx6, if you did not see an option in an earlier version of the Cats, you won't see it in the 4.7's. I don't know anything about your card, but you should contact ATI tech support and find out if you can span 2 monitors.
Life is good!

For the most part just an optimization here, there or a preset somewhere isnt it?

I can't really talk to much crap, considering I don't even have a video card. I got this intergrated video bullcrap on my machine. I can hardly even play Grand Theft Auto Vice city with this thing now. Don't know if and when I will ever purchase a Video card, but if and when I do, I will make sure it can play most of the newer games. I'm guessing Nvidia 5700 would be as low as you would wanna go or something by ATI that is comparable to it. ATI 9800XT or ATI 9800PRO all the way, seems like it would be worth the extra cash.

crap. ati's drivers dont support taskbar spanning. they havent and i dont think they ever will. i found a news thing from a couple years back saying that ati would look into taskbar spanning and they still dont have it. can anyone recommend a card that you know supports desktop spanning, like an nVidia GeForce 4?

WOW. I wont even say anything.

To my knowledge, any nVidia card that supports multiple monitors supports taskbar spanning.
