First, sorry if this has been answered before, but I can't find it. I have a legit compilation in Nero 6 (from Tmpgenc author) but at last stage in burn process the Burn button is greyed out and inactive. Same in Nero Express - Burn is inoperative. I am using NEC 2500A which is recognised by Nero 6. What is wrong?
Help, please!

Many thanks for answering my cry for help. Responses to your questions are: 1) No. I'll try and do this now. 2) Don't think so, but will check. 3) Yes, but I thought I had uninstalled it correctly. It was v4.8. 4) I installed Nero V 6 (is this Ultra 6?) but did not disable any of the programs you mention, such as ZoneAlarm and Norton Antivirus.
For your info, I have successfully used Nero to copy a music CD and a data CD - the trouble starts when I try and copy my .AVI film clips (via "AVI-to-DVD Recorder" and TEMPGen Author). All goes well until the very last Nero screen, when the Burn button is greyed out and of course unresponsive. I am using Panasonic DVD-R media which NEC say are supported by the 2500A. Now I'll have a look at ASPI layer and check for Roxio.

Jeanc1 - following my last message, I investigated ASPI layer and found that Nero 6 had automatically downloaded wnaspi32.dll at latest version, ie XP, whereas I only have 98SE. Visited Ahead.com and downloaded the correct ASPI software, and lo! all is now well. Your tip has worked, and many, many thanks for that!
One query - are Roxio and Adaptec related? They both produce software called Easy CD Creator. Maybe it's just a coincidence.
tmule4.
ADAPTEC --The company pioneered SCSI (Small Computer System Interface), a technology that enabled end users to easily and affordably connect their PCs, Macs, servers and workstations to storage devices and peripherals. In doing so, they assembled a set of drivers called ASPI (The term 'ASPI' is an acronym that stands for: Advanced SCSI Programming Interface)--The ASPI drivers allow CDDA32 and DAT2WAV the ability to talk to the CDROM/DAT drives.
They also developed the EasyCd Creator line of burning software.
Roxio bought Adaptec EasyCD Creator from Adaptec last year ! They are the sole supporting company for that software.
Jeanc1 - I guessed that they may have tied up in some way, but neither website seems to refer to the other as a "relation".
My first DVD plays well in my Toshiba player, but not in my computer (NEC DV-5700A DVD/CD player). I suppose it's another software problem, most likely related to the firmware version, but I think there are plenty of threads for me to explore on this topic.
Thanks again,

I got a new DVD burner, burned a copy of a dvd using Nero 6 after using DVD Shrink to "grab" it to my hard drive.
My problem is now that the Burn button is greyed out.
I'll try checking my ASPI layer setup, whatever that is, but does it make sense that this may've been changed after I sucessfully burned something?
Now I don't know if my burner is not working or if it's just a setting I need to change. Any help is appreciated as I am new to all this - I tried registering as "newbie" but that handle was taken
