I have tried two different file sharing programs, one I know has worked in the past, soulseek, and the other, warez, which I dont particularly like, but anything I try to download, old files, new files, software, I've tried it all, comes back saying remotely qued or just sits there trying to connect and does not start the dowload.

I thought it might have been a firewall or something on my end. I dont have anything running, wide open. I have a dialup connection, so I'm not on any network or using a router at all, I can connect to these clients with a username and password, but anything beyond here times out.

I have restored my computer..tried all I know..Does anybody have any ideas. I dont even have any proxy settings on my pc..I'm stumped.

Maybe, the problem is dial-up. Believe me, I've tried a wonderful P2P program called eMule with a 56k modem.(which I'm sure Dela would tell you about if he had the time =P )

It doesn't work. The transfers never get going.

Also, if you don't leave eMule on for at least 12+ hours, the downloads and queues never really shorten even with a Cable connection. So you should try and leave those programs running continously for three days and see if it's any help.

Ares Galaxy P2P is ok with 56k apparently!

Yeah, im on 56k, Ares Works fine. Just go to http://www.download.com and search for Ares.

I have tried soulseek and it works fine for me.

As in 4-5kb/sec downloads on both Ares and Soulseek.
which i get about 5-6kb/sec from HTTP/FTP Servers.

Most of the Other P2P networks rely on you sharing, if u dont share u get nothing back. That might seem unfair but in a way its the only way to keep the network alive!

Turned out to be something completely obvious....just didnt even think to check.....I was missing some networking components, removed my winsock files from the registry and uninstalled and reinstalled communications. Havent had any problems since.
