Hi. Without myself being an expert, I think that if you tick the option "Dolby AC-3" (for example, according to your movie) on the CloneDVD right panel, then you will have tha dolby audio stream on your DVD.

Depends on what you intend playing it back on. If you don't have surround sound system then simple AC3 is sufficient. As long as you select one audio option playback will be OK - deselecting the rest ensures less compression.

Hi Discmania ... I've been backing up for a few months now (and several hundred successful burns) but I've often wondered about the audio options. If I choose to keep the 5.1 and NOT the 2.0, but I don't currently have the audio system to support 5.1, will the 5.1 simply revert to whatever my system supports? I've been keeping both options just in case ... didn't want to end up with discs with no audio. But it would help compression levels a lot to just keep the 5.1. Thanks in advance.

The 5.1 audio is fine for ordinary stereo equipment as well as surround sound, though the file is usually much larger than AC3 so increases compression slightly. This is not a problem for 99% of discs.

I believe the 5.1 audio is called AC3 5.1. The highest quality is called DTS. Most DVD players won't play it. Mine will, so I include it if its there. It's usually about 800 MB or so, though. I find that it's a good idea to listen to the different audio tracks if you're using DVD Shrink. I believe that I have recorded DVDs and the only audio I had was the director's comments. That's a bummer when you do that.

Thanks Discmania and Forkndave. I'm going to try different audio options on my next back-up (with a DVD+RW disc just in case!) -- it would be nice not to have to keep so many audio options.
