Ok.I give up.Everythings been going great until recently.Im getting bad burns now between 3.5gig and the end of the disc.Either complete stops or very erratic speeds.Im using the latest versions of decrypter/dvd2One and nero 5.5 or Clone dvd2 to burn.Im using a 107 patched version 105 to enable burning 8x on 4x which had been working fine.Win XP latest service pack etc, athlon xp2400, seagate 160gb/ibm 200gb drives, pioneer 107 lg dvd drive (no like drives on same channel) 768 mb ddr ram.Have used Piodata 4x (ritek go4 dye) Datasafe 4x (ritek g04 dye) Ridisc 4x (g04) Datawrite 8x (fuji dye) Traxdata (go4) and the latest Verbatim 4x (mcc dye).Getting probs with nearly all the discs especially the verbatims which the burner normally spits out before writing and takes 2 or 3 attempts before it will burn, and even then there are some drastic speed variations again around the 3gig to end.Ive used dvdinfopro and nero dvd speed to check the speed/transfers etc in which the graph lines look like barbed wire!!Any ideas on how to check if my burners buggered before i shell out any more cash please!!!!! By the way, cant get onto chris mccanns site either!!!

What does it do when you slow the burn speed down?
You getting any errors on the Nero log? Can you post one?

hi sly...yes i have....similar but not so severe results.Cant understand why all of a sudden im getting probs when all was fine at 8x for four months.Ive discounted mediaissues as im using differant brands at the mo (verbatim and ridisc)(im awaiting delivery of some clones toady).HOWEVER...a fortnight ago i had grief trying to scandisk my c drive in that windows couldnt access the drive. After new drives and a dozen reformats/reinstall same problem. This is covered by microsoft support ox8024402c which is of no help as they recognise the problem but have no workaround!!!.After many late nights I discovered that whenever i had an av and firewall installed id get the grief.Tried zonelabs av suite, norton av panda av kaspersky av all the same.Until i put in pccillin and i can now access the c drive.Seems to be a bit of a coincidence!!
