im trying to make a copy of the ninja turtles movie but when ever i use dvd shrink it says "dvd shrink encountered an error and canot continue this operation invalid nv_pck_vobu_ea reason is unknown."
I also tried using dvd decrypter that works fine , but when its time for me to burn it using nero recode i get a message saying that it cannot continue and a error message pops up......this is the first movie that i have not been able to copy.......any help will be appreciated
Your question maybe should have been in the newsbies forum, but anyway ... please give us a LOT more details about your problem including your system specs.
A couple of things in the meantime. If DVD Decrypter got through the DVD, you should be able to burn it IF it will fit uncompressed onto a DVD-R (or DVD+R) disc. You say you get an error message in Nero but you don't say what the error message says. Have you tried burning with Decrypter instead of Nero (if you've ripped in Decrypter in .iso mode -- that's the only way Decrypter will burn) or is the error really that the DVD is too big to fit on one disc? If THAT'S the error, it's easily fixed -- use Shrink to compress the files that Decrypter put on your hard drive -- in Shrink, choose "open files" instead of "open disc," then choose your usual options in Shrink and when it finishes, burn with Nero (or you can burn with Decrypter if you've had Shrink create an .iso file).
Again, though, more details please. It's hard to help with so little info. :-)
Karen H.--Dell Optiplex GX240, P4 1.50ghz, 256mb RAM (yeah, I need more), Windows XP Pro w/SP1, 80gb c: drive (replaced the 20gb c: that crashed), 126gb i: drive, 124gb j: drive, 500gb external hard drive partitioned into k: and l: drives, Sony DDU1621/C1 DVD-ROM to rip/encode, Sony DRX-530UL to burn, new Sony DRX-840U to burn DL discs ... need a new computer to go with it!!
I don't know if this will help, but I had a movie once that DVD Shrink kept getting an error and wouldn't decrypt the movie. I didn't try Recode, but what I did was try an old version of Shrink (V2.3) and it worked fine. If you ever want to try an older version, they can be found at http://www.mrbass.org/dvdshrink/dvdshrinkold/ .
It looks like there may be a navigation error ... which could be caused by corrupt data. Every once in a while the source DVD has a problem. Take it back and get another one.
As one last thing you might try, though, I've found SmartRipper will succeed when Shrink and DeCrypter won't. Run it through SmartRipper using the "gold disc" Backup choice. If there is a bad cell, SR will tell you. If not, you will probably be able to use Shrink the rest of the way.
@ Deeman ... your copy may be fine, but this doesn't mean that seanjohn1's is. These discs are pressed, not burned, and there are a lot of things that can go wrong in the manufacturing process.
If it is a bad disc, which does happen sometimes, SmartRipper is a good program to root this out. The biggest clue here is "Invalid DVD navigation structure." If this is a proper error message, it means that the drive cannot read the necessary code to navigate (access) the DVD. It is getting bad instructions. If all the Ninja DVD's were like this, there would have been a recall. This leaves the other possibility ... that the DVD is faulty. Also, there is a slight possibility that the disc is dirty or scratched, but I have never received a nav error with this situation.
