Need a bit of help backing up the second season of the Sopranos, and possibly future discs as well. I use many different types of DVD software to back up and hit a brickwall. I tried to use DVDShrink and reauthor the 4 episodes and I can rip Titles 1 & 2, the 3rd title says that it cannot read F:/ (my dvd writer drive) and this also happens with DVD Decrypter...I cannot get the files off the disc to burn them with Nero...

Thanks in advance,
ChiPhiZD

Maybe there is something wrong with the original disk... Dvdshrink should do it fine doing the whole disk.... or decrypter and then dvd2one... I have done it with no problem.... Just make sure you are doing the whole disk. Just reread you post... try cleaning the disk, sounds more like there might be something wrong there...

Sony DRU-500A, dup-dvd, dvd-cloner, DVDDecryter, Nero 6, Dvdshrink, Dvd2One

So then you would suggest NOT doing the "reauthor" and copying the whole disc, I really dont want all the menus and the "episode previews" that are in the disc, just looking for the 4 Main Titles, 1&2 using DVDShrink come off fine, I get error message on 3&4, I tried cleaning the disc eventhough it is brand new and still no dice...tried last night for over an hour...im pulling my hair out because I have done many other TV series no problem.

Hi,

Are discs 3/4 the only ones to give you problems? No other factory discs give you those errors?

It's not unknown for factory discs to have a bit of corrupt data on them that will cause ripping programs to choke even though they work fine in a regular player.

If every ripper you use on it gives the same error and only with those two discs, I'd be inclined to think that they are bad from the factory so if they are new I'd suggest taking them back for a new set.
