HI,I checked with TIGERDIRECT and they said that the card in post #5 would work, but when i
chatted with them they said i would have wait for up to 2.5 months for a reward card so i searched for a source closer to home and WALMART had the same card that could i order cost about $48.00 includes S/H&TAX should have it in a week.
PSU may be questionable ,but will see.
Is it true that Pus's in a DELL are hard to replace as this DELL'S PSU is only 305watts
and i have read they diminish their wattage over the years, thanks
Of course i could put a 9volt battery in my CRAY 21 in basement, can not afford the power bills.

HI,ddp,The dell i have is a DELL E521.
I did not go with the TIGERDIRECT as i could get the same video card in my post #5 for
about $48.00 from wal mart took about a week to get it,put it in my PC downloaded updates
before using it and it seems to work quite well GOOGLE EARTH is a lot better then even
with the GS7300 Nvidia card.
I a program called OCCT that can tell me different things about my PSU it says that i am
using about 270watts running my PC if i were to play different video games that probably
change quite a bit i thought i read somewhere that the PSU in DELLS are not that easy to change because of their size is this right as i think if i were to play games i would have to upgrade to about 550watts,thanks

service manual link ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_dimension_desktops/dimension-e521_service%20manual_en-us.pdf
it appears to use a standard size psu dimension wise so can use any psu you want.

depends on the shape of the dell computer as some of their decktops not towers won't accept a standard size psu as to big as needs slim version psu.

HI,I finally got around to changing PSU put in a 500watt ATX hooked it been running for a week no problems so far.
Surprised as to size of it about 1/3 smaller then the DELL
PSU the wiring took awhile to figure out,but they put enough thought into the ends made easier, also it helped to leave everything still plugged in and changed one wire
at a time.
Will have to wait and see if the smaller size is good or bad over time.
