Hello, Help me
I have Sony PCG-GRX700P Notebook with DW-U50A DVD + / - RW drive. Recently I have build my laptop using recovery disk and I have also updated firmare with 1.5f but I am not able to write any dvd+RW I don't know what is a reason? I can write CD
I was able to write these DVD before building my laptop . Please help me I tried everything
G'day..I too have the DW-U50A drive(firmware 1.5f) in my laptop(PCG-GRT30P), I have not tried DVD-RW/DVD+RW but have been unable to use the DVD+R media disks which I bought on eBay-they are Integrity Diamond 1x-4x. They seem to burn alright, but the laptop or my DVD player will not read. I used DVDxCopy for one(1) disk and the Sony packaged software for the other disk(data files).
My question is...have I purchased a spindle(50) of useless disks which this DVD burner can't handle ??
Cheers
Ben
No it will work.. Just don't use DVD X Copy. To make backup of your DVDs, I recommend you to use DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter. DVDShrink will analyse and encode the disc and Decrypter will burn it to a blank media.
Both of these programs are free, so feel free to use them to Backup your purchased DVDs.
For DVD Shrink.. all you have to do is:
1- Insert a DVD
2- Click on open disc (then there will be a short analyse
(about 3mins)
3- Choose if you want a full backup or a "reauthored" backup.
4- Click on "backup" and be sure to tic the box where it says "Burn with Decrypter" or something.
5- You'll have to wait about 35 mins for analyse (if you tic the box "deep analysis". Then about 45 mins to encode and 15 mins to burn (when at 4x).
When you're burning a DVD, LEAVE your Pc ALONE.
If it does not work, maybe you should try updating your firmware and your aspi later. For this.. i can't help cauz i don't know much abour it.
I tried with no joy. Although in step 4 I was unable to select "Burn with Decrypter"- only "Nero" was available, so I burnt with Nero. Again, burnt OK, and again the same drive that burnt the DVD could not read it. DVD43(DVDforfree) also was unable to read, when BLANK and after being burnt.
I am beginning to think- as suggested, that it is my DVD drive(latest firmware is installed-'1.5f').
I will keep searching for ideas. Many thanks
Ben
I am new to this board and I cant believe that so-called exerts/senior members aren't seeing the growing frequency of people that are losing the ability of their drive to recognize/burn dvd +/- R. That is the reason that I came onto this board in the firs place and I comtinue to see people with the same problem but no concrete answers. it is not a drive problem but rather some form of software or whatever that is causing the drives to all of a suden not recognize media. I am ata loss but I have faith. PLEASE someone figure this out.
U have 2 also check b4 u purchase DVD to c what DVD hardware they are compatible with. And if that is not it e-mail Sony and ask them were u can get the info on aspi. I have TDK and I had to do the same thing.
Have a question. Anyone know if you can burn downloaded movie off yr HDD to DVD with DVD Shrink?
I prefer DVD because it really does have a clearer quaility. Plus I need the space on my computer.
