VBR vs. CBR in tmpgenc 3 express

is it really worth the analyzation process in tmpgenc 3 express to do vbr becuase it takes a lot longer...so wht im asking is is the quality really tht much better wihth VBR rather than straight CBR encoding?

yes it certainly takes much longer but this was the only way i got rid of motion jitter problems...you know one sequence of images shows in little jumps. since i use 2pass VBR i never had same problem again. whereas with CBR it happened to me about 20% or 30% of the sessions.

You know I've been kinda wondering this myself. I use TEMPEnc Plus 2.5. If I turn the Motion Estimate Search all the way up to Highest Quality and just run a 1 pass CBR as opposed to a 2 Pass VBR with the estimate search turned down a little(for speed and time purposes), will I get a similar looking product, or will one look better than the other? If anyone knows the answer, It would be helpful if you could respond.
