Folks, this is a new one on me. I ordered the DVD, "Mulan" (which is Disney animation production) from a guy on E-Bay who sells all kinds of DVD's. It's obviously a Pirated (pressed) copy of the original, because there are all sorts of (very amusing) misspelled words on the cover art. The disk, however, looks and plays GREAT on my normal DVD players. It won't, however, work in my computer DVD drive. Fact is, the drive won't even recognize that the disk is a readable media of any kind. When I put the disk in, the drive light comes on and the disk spins, but after about a minute the drive stops and no amount of fooling around will bring up a menu. DVD Decrypter has the same luck trying to read the disk. I even tried loading up DVD43 and it still won't work.

Anybody have any ideas about getting this disk to read on the computer?

Mike, If you think the disc was pirated then doesn't that kinda violate one of the rules here?

I had the same problem with a genuine R1 Disney disk (think it was 101 Dalmations). It played fine in my standalones but my PC will not recognise it. I assumed it must be some kind of protection.

Frank, I didn't priate the DVD, I am just trying to PLAY the darn thing on my computer. All I have ask for is a WAY to get my computer to recognize the disk so I can PLAY it. I bought the disk for my 10 year old niece to play on her laptop. In it's present format, it won't play on ANY computer system.

Now, can anyone help?

Mike,

Rule #5:

5. -> PIRACY AND LINKING TO PIRATED MATERIAL IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED, YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE FROZEN IF YOU DO THIS <-
Quote:
It's obviously a Pirated (pressed) copy of the original

I don't want to debate the finer points of this rule, just keep it in mind. This is how we keep this place safe.

Frank, I am 60 years old. I served over 30 years the U.S. Military. I take CRAP off of NO ONE!

Look up the word "Paranoid" Frank, you might see your name listed. Anyone who reads these forums, and does NOT know what's going on, is a Moron, Frank - and I have serious doubts that any Morons are casual or regular readers here.

If it BOTHERS you when I talk about a disk that could be pirated, then by all means, FREEZE my account. I added my suspicions because the folks who MIGHT know how to help me NEEDED to know what I was up against.

God Bless You and yours, Frank! Everyone needs something to give their life meaning.

Mike,

After 30 years in the military you haven't learned much - You don't mouth off to Seniors who have told you politely that you were violating our rules -

BTW there Mike, I looked under the word "Moron" and guess what ? I saw your smiling face -

I have over 600 DVD's all paid for and all of which I have made backups of - I have downloaded nary a single DVD or even a clip - I stay within the letter of the law of my country as do the vast majority of members here - it is morons like your fine self that give us a bad name -

Query, did you steal from the military the same way you pirated the film you're having difficulty with ?

Nice chatting with you -

As we say in Scuba land -
