ok i backed up a DVD with dvd shrink, and id use nero and everythign would work fine

but now after a format, and a fresh install of the same OS as before (winxp pro) i installed Nero, latest version, and i get some eror when i want to burn

something like

"Unexpected Exception"

and then i click ok, it dont burn, and then done, and then some type of memory fault window pops up and then nero says Internal Error, and nero just shuts down

i have a lite-on 811s

now before yall tell me to upgrade to firmware and drivers, and i dont see why i would have to since it worked before the format.

thanks, and sorry if this is wrong forum

update: i tried using record studio max, and that didnt work, so is it a driver problem?

EDIT:
I have an 811S and at first it worked fine when I first put it in, but now after a I formatted the ahrd drive and reinstalled winxp pro, it wont burn anymore. I?ve tried so many different burning softwares, Nero, Record Now, etc.

Have you tried uninstalling both Nero and your burner? Re-booting and let xp install your burner, then re-install Nero.

It could be your O/S. I've had to do a clean install after I just got done with one. Sucks!!! ... Seems like I did one every month, but now haven't had to do one in awhile(think 6 or 7 months). If ya got the time, you might try doing another clean install.

Check for any updated firmware for your burner. And which aspi layer did you install?

It worked - now it doesn't.

This maybe one of those where the Burner died and it is pure coincidence that you happened to do a fresh install.

The bit where you say it Burns CD's and will not read DVD's. That says duff Burner to me. Don't quote me on that but it is something to consider - no point in headbutting a brick wall.

I don't know what I am doing.
