Hello all. Well, I tried to burn The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. I used DVD Decrypter to rip and IFO Edit to split. That seemed to go fine. I burned the first half without a hitch using the trial version of CloneDVD2. That half plays fine...there was one little hang up in the DVD, but that was it. When I tried to burn the 2nd half, CloneDVD kept giving me an error message after starting to burn and ejected the blank DVD. I finally got the 2nd half to burn using, I think, the trial version of CopyToDVD. This half of the movie does NOT play fine. It gets hung up every couple of minutes. I don't understand why I'm having this trouble with the 2nd half. Could someone PLEASE recommend good free or inexpensive burning software?!?! I also purchased 321 Studios DVDXCopy Gold and had a similar problem where the 1st half burned OK, and the 2nd half was all pixelated and crappy. Please help!!!

Hi nimue4278, A few things come to mind with your problem. If the trouble starts about at the same place using 2 different programs, you may have corrupt data at that point on the original. The bad data may not show up in a dvd player, but will show up when it is trying to be ripped and burned. Could also be something as simple as dirt, finger prints, or a scratch on the original. My next suggestion would be possibly poor quality blank media. This would depend on what brand you are using.

Two great programs to use in conjunction with each other are: DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink.....which both are free!

you actually dont even need to split the dvd up if you use dvdshrink, it will compress the video quality but it is hardly noticeable, and it looks like you dont mind little flaws since you were able to deal with one skip in the first half.

But one of your problems, if not the whole problem is bad dvd media. That little skip in the first disc was because the media you are using sucks. I used to get those all the time until i started using better media.
just try dvdshrink, and it should work fine. The original dvd wouldnt rip onto your computer if it had corrupt files or scratches on it. So if it does rip successfully then its your blank media at fault.
