I don't know what chip is installed in my xbox, where should I start? Should I use EvoX?

Evox (short for EvolutionX) is a dashboard replacement. X2 (short for Xecuter) on the other hand is a bios, two different things. You need to flash your chip with the X2 bios (4983) before you can install Evox (3935).

I don't know what chip is in my xbox, but its led light changes from green to red if I hold the switch for more than 3or 4 seconds. Then I can play fake games and PAL games, because I live in Hong Kong. Can anyone tell me wut chip am i using and wut sould i do to use evolution x.

@TerryKwok - you can turn the xbox on by pressing the eject button and see if that will take you to the chip's O.S., which should have the name of the chip there. I am most sure that every chip is compatible with Evox.
@riklu - every chip will come preflashed with a legal bios (Cromwell). You have to reflash it with X2 to play backups. If you want to know if it's already flashed with X2, try putting a backup game in the Xbox and see if it will load.

It works with a backup game.
Do I just intall the EvoX dashboard then?
Will it matter which version of the dashboard I install if I don't know the type of bios that was flashed?

If a backup game works then yeah just install the Evox dash now. You'd want the latest dash which is 3935.

i have done everything right on mirc i get up to typing / msg xbins !list i can see all the users comming on every thing is ok on the tool bar, but i never get the imformation to enter into SMARTFTP.
