ok,I have followed the afterdawn guide to the letter and all I get AFTER rebuilder prepares and encodes is this 'there is nothing to do.DVD-RB couldnt locate appropriate files in working directory!Must prepare and encode first'.As I said, rebuilder does the job to start with but then I get the error message.I have tried different versions of CCE SP and still get the same.Maybe I am being a dumbass! If someone could help I would appreciate it as this problem is driving me insane!I usually put my working directory in MY DOCUMENTS,and I rip my dvd's with dvd encrypter in file mode.I run rebuilder in 1 click mode. Thanks in advance if someone can help!!

I'm reasonably sure the problem is with your CCE setup. What version of CCE are you using? If it's the CCE SP trial (or CCE SP 2.5 regular version) are you using ECLCCE to run it and do you have DVD-RB setup to use ECLCCE?

On DVD-RB's setup screen, where you give it the path to CCE, did you set it to point to ECLCCE or the actual CCE executable? If the error popup says Limitation Of Trial Version at the top that's the problem.

I used CCE SP 2.5 this time, and did as you said with ECLCCE.It appears that I have had some success!I have not burned the VIDEO TS files yet.....I will reply when I have done so.Thanks for your help...I would have been stuck without it!What is the most up to date version of CCE SP that I can use in this way?

You should be able to use any SP version of CCE with ECLCCE. It's just a matter of making sure the Path To CCE points to eclcce.exe instead of cctspt.exe so it will use that to run CCE instead of trying to run it itself. You can also use CCE Basic, which is only $58, without ECLCCE. Despite the price difference (CCE SP is $2000) the differences aren't in the encoder engine. The real differences are in the detailed settings, most of which Rebuilder doesn't use anyway. The only settings that make a difference to DVD-RB that CCE Basic doesn't have is VBR Bias (the amount bitrate is allowed to change in a short time) and extra passes. CCE Basic only does 2 passes. If you want to see what the results would look like with Basic you can use SP, but go into the advanced CCE settings and make sure the number of passes is set to 2 and change the VBR Bias to 30, which is the number Basic probably uses since that's SP's default.

You can also do more passes with SP, but it's debatable whether that makes any difference. Even if it does make a difference for general encoding, I don't think it does with DVD-RB because the segments are small enough that bitrate distribution is relatively easy so more passes shouldn't help.
