ok i've been trying to burn Saving Private Ryan for about a week now. So far i have only had success ReMpeg-ing movies and then remuxing.
So i am a newbie with reagrds to burning to 2 DVD-R's. Ok Saving private Ryan...

I split the movie which is contained in title set 4 using IFOEdit, and I copy over title set 1 (VTS_01_0.VOB, VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_0.BUP, and VTS_01_0.IF0),
now is where i get lost and have problems...
I am not interested in the extras (And when i do copy them over the movie size is bigger than 4.3GB which then puts me back where I started) so where do i go from here..
do i rename the VTS_04_xx.VOB'S TO VTS_02_xx.VOB's or what??

Any help from anybody would be a God Send.

Fabio, you don't have to do any renaming. Just open the ifo from the main movie set, split it using the usual options to two folders, then copy VIDEO_TS.IFO to those folders as well. Open VIDEO_TS.IFO in each folder and do Get VTS Sectors, then Region Free on all IFO's. Also do the auto-start feature in both VIDEO_TS.IFO files by going to VMGM_MAT then First Play PGC, then scroll down until you see the f4 command. Just edit that and put in "Jump to title" and whatever the title is. Good luck, any more questions just post here.

What settings do i use for IFOEdit to split the DVD?
are the following settings correct:

Correct Vob-Unit Nav....... YES
Correct original IFo....... YES
Create new ifo's........... YES
Split to 2 DVD-R's......... YES

(or should correct original ifo's not be selected?)

Thanx for your help

Im kind of a n00b myself, but the way i have been copying DVD to DVD-R is ripping the .vob, the .ifo, and the .bup files of just the movie and menues, no extras so it is under 4.3gb and then i just use nero to re burn them! Its worked ok for me, and u dont have to use ifo edit :)

Dual layered dvds.... copying.... need I say more?

bgraff,
What are you using to rip your files. I can't get anything I rip to work unless it the ENTIRE movie. I don't know what it is. I've tried decrypt and smartrip to rip just the movie itself, open up IFOedit and nothing.
Thing is, there are some dvd9's that aren't worth my 2 blank disc's!!!!

OK QUICK UPDATE, (NOT A GOOD ONE THOUGH)

OK I TRIED COPYING OVER TITLE SET 1 (VTS_01_0.VOB, VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_0.IFO, VTS_01_0.BUP),
THIS TIME FIRES UP OK WITH IFOEDIT,
TRY TO COPY WITH NERO & I GET A 'FILE REALLOCATION ERROR'
TRIED TO USE THE DVD-ROM(ISO) OPTION AND CREATE THE VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS FOLDERS MANUALLY. BURNED THE DISC....

....AND WE HAVE ANOTHER COASTER.

HOWEVER THE MOVIE DOES WORK ON MY PC

I AM USING BULKPAQ MEDIA, COULD THIS BE PROBLEM?

Fabio,
Perhaps the filesystem is not correct for the DVD player. You could create a disc image & burn with IFOEdit, I suppose, using the "Disc Image" function. I've never tried it, because I've never had a problem with burning DVD's via the Data option in Nero. I've only tested them on a Daewoo stand-alone though... I do not have a stand-alone as I'm in a dorm, but I guess I shall end up buying one based on what kind will play my DVD's. I already have about 100 burned copies :P Good luck.

Double check your standalone player at VCDhelp.com to see if it will play DVD-R's. My Player is the Toshiba SD-6200 Dual disc (was about $600 when I bought it) won't even play SVCD's.
Second, your bulkpaq DVD's should be fine for movie things you don't care about, but I wouldn't reccomend it for data.
Try using "Verita's Record Now DX" if you have the pioneer A04 or simialar burner it should have came with it. Worst program in the world, BUT it WILL NOT burn your DVD unless the file structure is exactly right for you standalone. Only burnt one coaster EVER and it was because I forgot the AUDIO_TS folder (duh..).

Also good, but long-winded how to on spliting DVD's here: http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/articles/dvd2dvdr_more.html

fabio...go get some rw's so u won't have anymore coasters.

Have you followed any of the guides for splitting? Everything should be kinda simple and it will split the movie for you. All you have to do is copy the files over like Forker said.
The easist guide I've found is Derrows if you need a 'visual' step by step guide.
Also you may want to try downloading bittsetter and changing your compatibility to dvd-rom.
And your going to split to two dvd's then why all the extra stuff?? Rip & burn everything!
Thats all the two sense I can add.

ok went and got my self some DVD-RW's.
Again not readable in my Standalone at all.

Ok so i thought i'd go back and check some dvd's which i had burned with the classical method of stripping audio streams and subtitles, and then burning to disk. (when the original dvd is only just over 4.3 GB) and you know what all my Bulkpaq DVD's semi-work,..i.e jumps about skips frames and then STOPS.
All the Dvd's where i used DATASAFE DVD-R's are fine, 100%, PERFECT.

ARE BULKPAQ MEDIA RUBBISH??? HAS ANYBODY ELSE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THEM?

Success at last
I have defeated BlackHawk Down

ok i created an Image of my files using ImgTools and then burnt this image to DVD using DVD Decryptor.
Burnt a DVD_RW first, worked perfect
so i burnt one of my BulkPaq's... and it WORKS.. (little dance a round to celebrate)

i am now in the process of takling A Beautifull Mind in the same way, i'll let you know how it goes.
