In one of these guides it says:

"For 384kbps 5.1 AC3, try to put 160 into Preload box and 160 into Interleave audio everyXXX box. Then change the selection next to the Interleave audio every XXX box to ms.

If your audio is in 448kbps 5.1 AC3 format, try 128ms values for both boxes. "

--------------

But I need the values of a 192kbps 2 channel and a 224kbps 4 channel AC3 sound files....( I need the ms for these)..

Your help will be appreciated!

Thanks

Whatever,
you should preload 500ms audio and interleave every 12 frames (approx twice/second).
Remember, one second = 1000ms
I don't change these settings, regardless of any changes in audio bitrate :-)

Is that the 1-2 frames setting for gordian knot? if it is why not use 1 frame instead of 2 frames for the audio?

And what abou the "Audio skew correction - Delay audio track by 'ms" settings in the Virtualdubmod settings?

I'm sorry; I don't follow you...
AVI stands for Audio/Video Interleave, right?
You could interleave an AVI every 50 frames (approx once/2 seconds) and the file will be slightly smaller but harder to play back.
You could interleave every (1) frame and the file will be larger but easier to play back.
The most appropriate compromise (best balance of efficiency and filesize) is to interleave every 10 - 12 frames. This advice may also be found on the DivX website, it is common knowledge.
I have always left the Preload 500ms Audio, which is VirtualDub default and is not inappropriate.
Audio skew correction is to adjust the audio so it is in synch with the video at the beginning of the AVI.
The video is gonna start when it starts, and you must advance or retard the audio so it starts at the exact same moment.
In 'the old days' there was plenty of tinkering with this, and adjusting of video frame rate, to get the movie synch'd and keep it synch'd.
But now, with an advanced frame-server setup like GKnot, It's always perfect automatically :-)
So you don't touch the Audio Skew unless there is a synch problem.
You just have to interleave your A and V every twelve frames (approx 500ms) and, you have an AVI.
Hope this helps,
