I turned my computer on this morning and after a few minutes it rebooted itself. After checking th Asus probe I notice my cpu temp was in the 60's and still climbing, this was obviously shutting down the computer.
I opened up the case and noticed the cpu fan was not spinning at all so I disconnected the wire and plugged a spare one in and that didn't spin either.
To solve the problem I unplugged my rear case fan and plugged the cpu fan into it and now it's working fine, apart from the lack of a rear case fan.
It's now running cooler than it has been for the last couple of weeks.
What would cause the motherboards cpu fan power supply to suddenly stop working?
I doesn't have any moving parts, it just sits there supplying. Or not, in this case

Coolermaster fan. Nothing fancy but rated up to XP3200.
I e-mailed my local store yesterday and explained what had happened. They told me to bring it back and they would exchange it straight away.
I do spend about £300 a month there on computer bits so I thought they'd be eager to please me.
I suppose I,ll have to re-install XP and all my programs again now. Sigh!!
Wish I'd figured out how to use Norton Ghost.
