i have the philips dvd+rw824 and have had the firmware upgraded to support - copying i would like to know if the firmware can be upgraded in this drive to support Dual layered disk copying cheers.

NO... its not recomened, as some have flashed their drives with the NEC ND 2510A firmware ( a lot of NEC ND 2500 owners have tried this) and it seems the laser needs precise setting to burn dual layer that a firm ware cant do on its own. It is possible to make your drive do it with a compatablie firmware from a DL drive but many have made one or none sucessful copies.
