First of let me just tell everyone what I am using.
I have a SONY dvd burner DRU-700a the new double layer burner.
I am using 4x DVD+R Media from Memorex.
I am using DVD-Decrypter to decrypt my movies and so on to ISO format.
Then I use DVD Shrinker to compress and burn my movies.
The one problem that I am getting the most is that my movies about 12 scenes in will skip stutter and pixelate.. Almost always at the end.. -- offcourse If I try again alot of times I will get a prefect burn..
--- Some of my movies are so bad that they won't even play then even make Win DVD crash when it trys to even start the dvd up.
Well anyways I was wondering if that is any quick solution to get less bad burns cause I get it almost 1 out of every 3 burns WHICH is horrible!!!
I burn at 4 speed so I havn't tried to burn at a slower speed so I will try that-- but I was just wondering if anyone else has some hints on how to get past this isue I am having.
Thanks!

I've got the same problem you do, using a Plextor 712A and a TEAC DV-W58E and Memorex from a bulk 75 pack that was on sale. This batch of +R 4x was made by CMC magnetics, not Ricoh as some have received. Mine are bad disks! I'm lucky to get one good burn out of 10 video tries, and data backups (errors) are mostly unreliable. When I use Verbatim or TDK, I get perfect burns every time!

Try some different brands of media, like Verbatim, Ricoh, Ritek.

The TDK's I use are CMC Magnetics mfg., but must be of a better quality order because they are working just fine, where the CMC made Memorex's are just shooting range targets.

I got much better results NOT using ISO. Using ISO I got 50% duds. Using VOB files I get 20% rejects.

It maybe that you are burning to the complete outer circumference of the disc.......some players struggle with maintaining focus towards the outer edge......causing pixelation/jumping etc....

Try and just use dvdshrink to rip and compress it a little bit more and then link it in with DVD Decrypter (I am sure dvdshrink does this now, although I do not use it)......ie increase the compression slighty, thus reducing the overall filesize......

...............PIO is no go, DMA all the way...............
Beware of the Pixies - they move in over night and turn your life upside down

Draktar,

I had the same problem as you encountered before. Try burning at a slower rae, try burning at 1x and see what happens. Also, try burning and leaving the computer alone and not surf or do something intensive. I know it is a drag to wait at such a slow speed but try it and post if you have better results.

have ne of u with dru700a tried using media recommeded by sony.
and also i have noticed that the problem happend only on my dvd player or my old dvd drive.. and does not happen when i use my burner.
it is a guess but i think these old dvd players and drives are very sensitive.
i had little scratched up dvd.. couldn't get my dvd drive to rip it.. but when i used the same dvd with my dru-700a it worked like a charm, no problems.

p.s. i am using fuji dvd-r, it is not one of the recommended media on http://www.sonydvd-link.com

and also it gets choppy not only at the end of the disk.. but at the end of the .vob's
