a friend recently got hold of minority report & spiderman dvd's both with extras, menus, audio...i assume these will be the retail releases due out later this year, both are region 0 too! but the quality of the packaging & disc covers, leaves me to believe someone out there has access to dvd9 discs!!??? (you can clearly see that the packaging isnt a professional job) could this really be the case.

It is possible that a serious pirate outfit would have access to those DVDs, however (and here is the crunch) although your hardware might be able to *read* it, it will not write to is, as this requires special technology. I'm afraid that for the fairly foreseeable future DVD-Rs will be of a single layer format.
